Girl Mom

Source: etsy.com via Ashley on Pinterest

Although I am slightly terrified a little nervous about being a "girl mom," I have already thought of a million things I'm excited about hopefully** sharing with Leighton!!! They include:

  • Shopping trips
  • Possibly my wedding dress—if she wants it (EEEEEK, just the thought!)
  • My shoe collection (I'll save the really good stuff for her and have it resoled)
  • My wardrobe (Only the really good stuff. I wish I had a killer vintage closet!)
  • Mani/pedi dates
  • Spa days
  • Prom dress shopping
  • Lilly Pulitzer
  • Some of my special jewelry (Branner will get some, too)
  • Hairbows
  • Books from my childhood (ie: Little House on the Prairie, Babysitter's Club)
  • American Girl dolls (I had Samantha; my mom saved her!)
  • A bond like my mom and I have

**I say hopefully because, with my luck, she will probably hate all of these things, but a mom can wish!

Weeks 19-20

19 Week Bump!

Well, we're halfway there! Technically, a little over halfway there since I will be scheduled for my c-section at around 39 weeks. The second time sure flies by!

Weight Gain/Loss: +5 lbs.

Maternity clothes? I'm still fitting in my regular clothes for the time being. Blouses and button-ups are getting a little tight depending on the cut. Sweaters, loose cut tops, jeans, and leggings, and workout clothes still fitting. I've added a couple of maternity tops and a pr of maternity leopard skinny jeans into the rotation!

Sleep: I'm getting 8-10 hours a night. LOVE IT!

Best moments lately: Finding out we're having a baby GIRL and naming her!

Food cravings: Clementines, cereal, fruit.

Food aversions: Sometimes meat.

Gender: Girly girl!

Pregnancy symptoms: Round ligament pain, lower back pain, frequent bathroom trips.

Exercise: Still continuing with my regular classes at the gym: Total Strength, Cycle Strength, and Cardio Dance. I have also added a 40 minute prenatal pilates DVD for at-home workouts that I love.

What I miss: Champagne, red wine, raw sushi, medium rare filets.

NAME!

After much discussion and debate, Baby Girl Kirby finally has a name!

Leighton James Kirby

I've mentioned this before, but in case you missed it, Leighton is named after Barry's brother, Jason (middle name Leighton) and my maternal grandfather (James N. Thomas).

I caved. Barry really, really wanted to honor J by naming this child after him, and I do love it even though I know a couple of other little girls with the same name. Hence the James. I needed something "different" to spice it up a little. My lifelong best friend and I had been discussing the name James for a girl a few weeks ago, and it just clicked for me. So, shout out to Britt for helping me name her! We are so excited that she has an identity now!

We're Having A...

{via}

We had our anatomy scan on Wednesday, and were shocked and delighted to find out that we are having a baby GIRL in May! Well, I was shocked and delighted. Barry claims he knew all along, so he was simply delighted!

I have been perusing the internet for fabrics, rugs, and prints to go with my nursery color scheme (coral/gray/white) and shopping for little girl clothes. We have been batting around name ideas. I **think** we have finally come to an agreement, and while the first name will not surprise anyone, the middle name is a little different. Both names were on the lists I posted a while back—hint, hint.

I must admit, I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the thought of having a girl. I've been in boy mode for so long, it just seems strange to switch gears. This also means that I have to start completely from scratch with her wardrobe. I will definitely be selling off Branner's old clothes in the coming weeks, possibly via blog sale. Lots of Polo, Gap, Janie and Jack, and a few john-johns (most of his were monogrammed) for all of you out there with boys. If anyone thinks they would be interested, let me know!

Now, back to Pinterest!
