My latest Modern Parent article is up and is about my sick day last week. Ugh! Wouldn't it be nice if moms got sick days?!

5k Update
See that girl up there? Well, it definitely was not me at the 5k on Saturday. Why, you might ask? Well, because I didn't get to run (or walk or anything) the 5k. I had a terrible stomach virus on Wednesday while Barry was out of town, and while I felt much better Thursday and Friday, I started to feel nauseous and bad again Friday night. When I woke up Saturday morning, I was still not feeling well. I am so sad! I was really looking forward to running the race and proving to myself that I could do it. I think I tried to do too much, too soon after my virus, and my body just couldn't take it. Luckily, I was able to rally enough to take Branner to Riverbend farm in the early afternoon. More about that later. I am definitely signing up for another race, and soon! I'll keep you posted...

Raspy McCougherson
Poor B. Bless his little heart. He woke up from his afternoon nap yesterday with an ugly sounding cough. Of course, at first I freaked out and was thisclose to driving him straight to the pediatric urgent care down the road (it sounded that bad to me), but Barry convinced me to call our doctor's office first. So, after speaking with the lovely nurse, we are medicating with honey, a humidifier and ibuprofen. He doesn't have a fever--yet, but I am keeping an eye on him.
When he woke up this morning, his little voice was so raspy and deep. It's pitiful and cute at the same time. We are sticking close to home this week to be safe. I don't want to be that mom that infects a whole slew of other Childwatch kids even though he doesn't have a fever. That's probably how we got into this mess in the first place.
As of now, it's 3 am, and I've been up since 2 listening out for nighttime coughs (there have been a few). I hate it when my baby is sick! It breaks my heart! Here's to hoping he feels better soon!

Stomach Bug: 3, Kirbys: 0
We have had our first (I'm sure of many) brush with the dreaded stomach bug--EEEWWW! Poor Branner and my parents, they all had it while Barry and I were away having fun in Miami. My mom didn't tell me until I got back because she didn't want to ruin our trip. So thoughtful! I felt so bad that they had all been sick and they said it was terrible. Barry and I woke up Monday feeling fine and went about our days as normal (see V-day post).
I started feeling nauseous Monday night. I went to sleep and hoped it would go away. Barry was up in the middle of the night sick. I awoke with Branner on Monday and just felt AWFUL. This is a nasty bug, and it seems to be going around everywhere. I took care of B in the morning, and Barry felt a little better in the afternoon (when I was MISERABLE) and took care of him then so I could rest. We were both in bed around 7 last night. Luckily, I feel better today and Barry is back at work. Whoa, that was rough!!!!
