My latest Modern Parent article is up and is about my sick day last week. Ugh! Wouldn't it be nice if moms got sick days?!

Pumpkin Carving
After picking up a few pumpkins from a local church's pumpkin patch after our family date night last night, Barry and Branner carved his up today. B had so much fun "helping" his daddy! He loves pumpkins!

School (Art)Work
In honor of Halloween, Branner made us a ghost and "decorated" a pumpkin at school! I'm working on finding a way to display these beauties (and the fall tree he made) in his playroom!

Redefining the Southern Belle
Yes. YES. YES!
Garden & Gun magazine just described us (and by us, I mean ladies born and raised Southern) perfectly in this article. If you're from the South, you'll be doing a lot of head-nodding in agreement!

Boy Mom
It's that time again, my latest article is up on Modern Parent. It's all about being a "boy mom" and how much I surprisingly love it! I would really appreciate if you stop by, read, and comment!

5k Update
See that girl up there? Well, it definitely was not me at the 5k on Saturday. Why, you might ask? Well, because I didn't get to run (or walk or anything) the 5k. I had a terrible stomach virus on Wednesday while Barry was out of town, and while I felt much better Thursday and Friday, I started to feel nauseous and bad again Friday night. When I woke up Saturday morning, I was still not feeling well. I am so sad! I was really looking forward to running the race and proving to myself that I could do it. I think I tried to do too much, too soon after my virus, and my body just couldn't take it. Luckily, I was able to rally enough to take Branner to Riverbend farm in the early afternoon. More about that later. I am definitely signing up for another race, and soon! I'll keep you posted...

Riverbend Farm
Sorry for the picture-heavy post :)
We decided to take Branner to Riverbend Farm this year for a little pumpkin pickin'. To say he had an absolute blast would be an understatement. Between all of the tractors and animals, we left with no pumpkins. B was having entirely too much fun running around, "driving" the farm equipment and petting the animals to ride down to the pumpkin patch to choose one. What a great day!

Another Mealtime Success!
{via}
Last night, Branner devoured one of these bad boys, a Smart Chicken Uncured Chicken Frankfurter. Barry cooked it on our charcoal grill and B was in love! They are pretty large compared to other hot dogs, so I was super happy! Healthy, organic and delicious? Yes, please!

Nature Boy
{via}
We are just in from a fun family morning! We started with our weekly tradition of breakfast at Phil's, did a little house scouting (I don't want to say hunting, because this is very preemptive) and capped it off with a trip to the park. I LOVE SUNDAYS!
Branner has developed a new interest in the past few weeks. He is currently obsessed with bugs: ants, butterflies, spiders, anything that crawls. He gets so excited about them and likes to crouch down and search for them. He thinks spider webs are hilarious for some reason. He is very curious about all things bug-related. It's so fun/funny to watch him enjoy something so much! I love it when he discovers new things!!! Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

21 Months
We're 3/4 of the way through to year number 2! Not much has changed in the past month. Branner is go, go, go all the time--nothing new there! He's still all boy, still loves tractors and is still very (very, very) active! He has been cutting some molars, which has made for a tough past few weeks.
Likes: Tractors, bugs, trains, going to the park, walks, wagon rides, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, helping Barry in the yard, exploring, Bailey and Chloe, school, books, puzzles, Elmo, Yo Gabba Gabba, Fresh Beats Band, Curious George, coloring, drawing, family breakfasts at Phil's Deli, playing at Jen and Trey's, visits from "Uncle" Joe, hanging with the guys (Barry's friends), football, pumpkins, Itsy Bitsy Spider (song of the month at preschool), giving hugs and kisses and riding in the car with the windows down.
Recent Food Loves: Eggplant Parmesan, Barry's ribs, peas and carrots, squeezeable fruits and veggies, veggie mac and cheese, pepperoni pizza, smoothies, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, apples and Fig Newtons.
Dislikes: Cutting molars, sitting in a highchair or booster seat and having to come in from playing outside.
Oh, B, we love you so much!

Rolling Stonehaven 5k
Oh, look! It's Barry and Branner! |
{via}
Even though I have let my 5k training go by the wayside, Barry and I still signed up to do our neighborhood 5k next weekend. I'm excited and kind of nervous. I really, really feel like I can do it, though! But, I'm SO making Barry push Branner in the jogging stroller. I'll let you guys know how it goes!
