Fashion Friday--Recent Purchases
It's official. I suck at taking pictures of what I actually wear. Maybe it's time that I really go all in and learn how to use my awesome mom camera. That way, I could take pictures of myself instead of asking Barry. I'll work on that in the coming weeks.
Anyhoo... Instead, I will share with you a couple of my recent purchases that I love!
Yoanna Baraschi Lace Medallion Tank
Anthropologie
This is no longer available online, but I just purchased this week for $50 from the store's sale rack. I've already worn it, and it is adorable on!
Vince Camuto Sheath Dress in Blue Iris
Nordstrom
I'm wearing this with my Isola Damanis and a fab neon yellow/pink/gold necklace to a wedding on Sunday. This dress is the perfect color, the perfect fit, and made out of amazing fabric. The price tag was pretty fantastic, too, for as much wear as I'll get out of it.
Watercolor Stripe Pocket T in Black Stripe
Gap
Great basic, great price, great quality. I don't care what anyone says, I love the Gap. I have read a lot online where people have said it is unstylish, etc., but I always find great basics there, and they always have sales online.

Things I'm Loving Thursday
We're on the heels of a pretty busy weekend! We're having friends over to grill out tomorrow, possibly having a date night Saturday, and Branner and I are heading to Asheboro early Sunday morning so that I can attend the wedding of a childhood/family friend on Sunday night. Whew, I'm already tired! Here's what I'm loving this week...
...these hair ties. They are the best! I bought a pack at Scout & Molly's about a month ago, and I have really loved them! I need to go stock up on some more and get some of their headbands. Highly recommend these if you workout or wear your hair back a lot!
...this blog, written by my friend and fellow Modern Parent columnist, Ashley Taylor. Y'all know you've come into contact with moms like this!
...this idea for parties! When (if) we (ever) move, I plan to entertain often, and I'm hoping that my friend, Alice, will start making them so I can buy some!
...this recipe. SO GOOD!

The Perfect Weekend
Wow, we had an amazing weekend! I was just sitting down for the night, settling into all of my delicious Sunday night reality TV shows, and thought about what a great time we had! Our perfect weekend looks like this:
- A low-key Friday night with a simple meal and an early bedtime.
- A boat ride and lunch on the lake Saturday morning/afternoon.
- Date night on Saturday night.
- Sleeping in this morning (thanks, Branner)!!
- A movie date for me this afternoon with Ashley. We saw Mirror, Mirror. Loved it!
- Dinner with the Thompsons on the patio tonight.
Dinner with Drew!
Last night, the Thompsons joined us for dinner. Branner and Drew are so adorable together. It warms my heart to think that they will grow up together just like Lauren and I did! We were basically friends from birth!
Seriously, how cute are they? I can't stand it!

Things I'm Loving Thursday
It's almost the weekend, friends! I'm excited because we are going to take the boat out on the lake for the first time this Saturday. Branner is beside himself. He adores boats (and tractors and cars and trucks)! Here's what I adore this week...
...this top from the Gap. It's so simple and cute. I'm sure I'll wear it all the time!
...the idea of this bread. I love English muffins! I can't wait to try it. I'll probably experiment with a cinnamon-raisin version for Branner, too!
...this blog. It may be the most important blog I have ever read as a mother. I think we all need to be reminded of the fact that to our families, we are enough.
Read it here. I promise, it is worth your time!
...multi colored manis. I just can't get enough! Here's my latest. You have to look closely to see that my ring finger is coral while my other nails are hot pink. Subtle, but I dig the way it looks!
Well, I'm off to get ready for date night. It's been a hot minute since Barry and I have been out alone, so I'm really looking forward to putting on something cute and getting out of the house! Happy Thursday!

Spring Break Update
Ice cream treat after shoe shopping. My mommy says that's the perfect afternoon! |
Feeding the Arbo geese and ducks! |
Last week, Branner and I spent tons of time together while he was out of school on Spring Break. We went to the Y, Target, out to lunch with Big Papa, ran errands, went shoe shopping, got ice cream, fed the geese and ducks at the Arboretum, colored, played outside, blew bubbles and just enjoyed being together in general. I love my sweet boy!

Fashion Friday--GNO w/ Shana
I hate to do this to y'all again, but I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of my actual outfit for Girl's Night Out last night. I met my girlfriend, Shana, at Bonefish for some yummy eats and a couple of adult beverages. My outfit actually consisted of the navy printed tank, jeans, coral necklace and shoes pictured with a similar J. Crew cardi and another necklace that had several different colored strands mixed in with some gold. Will definitely be wearing this again!

Things I'm Loving Thursday
Well, I've (almost) survived Branner's Spring Break without a sitter in sight! WHEW! Needless to say, Barry and I will most definitely be sneaking away at least one night next week (more than likely two)! A few things I'm adoring this week are...
...these gorgeous heels. I am in L-O-V-E. Maybe Barry will see this and get them for me for my birthday!
...this AMAZING recipe! It's on my Easter Sunday menu. It's so delicious. I highly recommend you try it!

...this quote. I feel like I am in limbo in so many important areas of my life. I need this to remind me who is really in charge!

OOTD--Last Thursday
Excuse the horrible bathroom mirror pic. It was done super-fast before I ran out the door on Thursday morning.
My wardrobe these days can only be described as casual. I have a few things appropriate for church, a few party dresses and a whole lot of jeans/tops/casual dresses/shorts. I simply don't have reason to purchase anything dressy when my days consist of gym time, preschool drop-off/pick-up, working with my social media clients and housework. Glamourous life I lead, I know.
Each time we have a wedding to go to, I must purchase a dress because I have purged my closet of all old and unworn clothing and either donated it or consigned it. For date nights, I can usually get away with a dressy casual outfit. But, Barry and I have been known to enjoy a fancy restaurant, so I do have a few go-tos on hand just in case. I'm doing some major wardrobe revamping/rebuilding this year. With that being said, here's a peek at the super-laidback, super-cheap (minus the shoes) outfit I wore:
Chambray top: Old Navy
Coral shorts: Old Navy (old)
Scarf: F21 (old)
Necklace: Waxing Poetic, gifted
Leopard bracelet: Aldo
Gold flip flops (not pictured): Tory Thoras
I actually got a lot of compliments on this outfit while I was out. Pretty sure I'll be wearing it again!
